Somehow I managed to crash and snap off the tabs that pin into the rotor blade assembly. I didn't honestly have to have the total shaft but this had the element. I was in a position to loosen the screws (which were included, in contrast to the previous post) and swap the black piece onto the current shaft attached to my chopper. It took a minute or two to get anything back but then we had been flying once more!
It works. And it really is a beneficial match for the original Syma 107g. I identified it alot more intuitive to transfer the replacement head to my original shaft (with its intact drive gear) to replace the broken blade axles. I do not know how difficult it would have been to take away the gear - I assume it would not be quick.
